Okay, let me just begin by saying that I am a horrible procrastinator. (Or would that mean I’m horrible at procrastinating? Whatever.) Lovely CP has been planning this thing for weeks and I’m just getting around to writing up my submission now. So I apologize if this isn’t as eloquently written as it usually is ( kidding… definitely kidding ;] ) 

Anyway, how many ways can I say I love you? I love Sami. Ace loves Sami. Aisha loves Sami. Sami is loved by Aisha. Ah, well, that’s going to get redundant, now isn’t it? haha. 

I would just like you to know that your talents never cease to amaze me, Sami. You are an excellent writer, an artist with a style that’s developing beautifully and a lovely friend. I don’t doubt for a minute that you’re hiding other talents, either. I hope know that you will carry these talents into your newfound old age. (Dang, woman, you’re 18!) At this point, I can’t even remember the first time I talked to you. It seems our friendship blossomed out of random comments around various interconnected websites. And that’s essentially what makes up our friendship. But, I’m okay with that. In fact, I’m more than okay with that. However inconsistent and generally sporadic our gushings may be, I appreciate all of them. And when I get a chance to actually have a conversation with you, I’m reminded of how great of a conversationalist you are. And trust me, that’s hard to come by these days. There we go, another talent! :]

So, I hope your birthday is has been filled with cake and presents and … random things you’re allowed to do now that you’re 18. Like, for example, did you know that you’re now legally allowed to buy white out? And rent a port-o-potty? And the best one of all: own a monkey. Pretty sweet, huh?

So go buy a monkey, my love!

I’m honestly struggling to write this right now, not because I can’t think of anything to say, but because there’s so much to say and I don’t know if I can properly explain it in words. I’m going to use a few big adjectives, and we’ll see if that will help me define you properly.

Sami, you are one of the most incredible people I’ve never met. You have an old, gentle heart that sees the good in almost everything. You understand things, and that allows you to approach the world from the other side, allows you to see things in a drastically different light. Yet, you’re empathetic, and it’s what draws others to your spirit. I admire you and your grasp on language and all things beautiful, and I’m so glad I’ve gotten to talk to you as both a writer and a friend.
